Last month, Glashütte Original introduced the latest edition of its popular SeaQ Chronograph, an elevated dive watch that brings together professional-grade specs with the refinement the brand is known for. Next week, the German brand brings that model to WatchTime New York 2024, showcasing one of its brightest launches of the year at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall.

Joining Glashütte Original’s renowned Spezialist collection, the diver is inspired by the monochromatic charm of classic cinema. Using a new black-and-white color scheme, the watch emphasizes the idea that “less is more—” working to make a bold statement without the need for vibrant color.

Like previous editions in the line, the new SeaQ Chronograph is built for adventure, featuring a 43.2mm stainless steel case with a polished and satin-brushed finish. The unidirectional rotating bezel is set with a black ceramic inlay, providing scratch resistance and enhancing the watch’s sleek look. Designed to meet rigorous ISO 6425 and DIN 8306 standards for diving watches, the diver offers 300 meters of water resistance, ensuring it’s ready for extreme underwater conditions.

The dial of the watch puts the concept and execution of “contrast” as its focus. It features a galvanic silver backdrop, inspired by the silver screens of vintage cinema, which enhances the contrast and reduces light dispersion. Black hands and applied indices coated with Super-LumiNova ensure legibility in all lighting conditions, making the watch easy to read both underwater and on land.

The chronograph’s 30-minute counter and small seconds sub-dials feature a vinyl pattern finish that adds texture and depth to the minimalist design. The Panorama Date display at 6 o’clock continues the black-and-white theme, with white numerals set against a black background for a clean, seamless appearance.

Inside the *SeaQ Chronograph* is Glashütte Original’s in-house Calibre 37-23. This movement offers an impressive 70-hour power reserve and features a silicon balance spring for optimal performance. The automatic mechanism also includes a flyback chronograph function, adding another layer of complexity and intrigue to the sports watch.

As with all of the watchmaker’s movements, this one is beautifully hand-finished with traditional Glashütte stripes, beveled edges, and polished screws— all visible through the sapphire case back.

Prices start at $13,100 USD for the rubber strap version, $13,500 USD for the synthetic strap, and $14,200 USD for the steel bracelet.
