Rado Captain Cook: New Size, New Height and New Hues

With a revised 39mm case diameter, both newcomers offer a more compact profile. One comes with a light blue dial, one with a turquoise face. Both feature a cool gradient effect and the unmistakable design of this popular retro-inspired diver.

Rado celebrates the summer two new additions to its Captain Cook collection, each drawing inspiration from the ocean’s shifting tones and depths. With a revised 39mm case diameter, both models offer a more compact profile, sitting between the existing 37mm and 42mm versions in the collection, while retaining the water resistance of 300 meters. This new size is complemented by a slim case height of 12mm, aiming for a more versatile fit on a wide range of wrists.

The first model, ref. R32223203, features a gradient dial that transitions from light blue to silver-white, paired with a matching light blue ceramic insert on the unidirectional bezel. This is the first time Rado has used this particular hue in the collection. The second model, ref. R32223213, displays a darker dial, with a gradient ranging from black to turquoise. This iteration is framed by a bezel with a black ceramic insert. On both dials, the bold rhodium-plated hands with the hour and arrow-tipped and applied hour markers are filled with white Super-LumiNova, which glows blue in low-light conditions. The design retains the vintage cues of the original 1962 Captain Cook, including three central hands and a date window at 3 o’clock. They are protected by domed sapphire crystals which are coated on both sides with anti-reflective treatment to further enhance the readability.

The watches are powered by Rado's caliber R763, an automatic power house used by Swatch Group brands with an 80-hour power reserve. It is fitted with an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring to ensure resistance to magnetic fields and greater stability over time. It ticks behind a closed case back engraved with a seahorse motif.
