A vibrant yellow-and-black dial, a new 39mm case, and Tudor’s COSC-certified manufacture chronograph movement define the latest addition to the Black Bay Chrono family.

Tudor kicks off the summer season with the Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee,” a striking new chronograph that joins the brand’s Daring Watches collection alongside the Black Bay Chrono “Pink” and “Flamingo Blue.” Combining the Black Bay line’s dive-watch heritage with Tudor’s longstanding association with motorsport chronographs, the new model introduces a bold yellow dial housed in a newly proportioned 39mm stainless-steel case. Powered by the manufacture Caliber MT5813, the watch pairs contemporary styling with robust chronograph performance and everyday wearability.

At the center of the watch is a domed yellow dial accented by contrasting snailed black sub dials, creating a high-impact “reverse panda” aesthetic. The layout follows the formula established by Tudor’s early chronographs, featuring a 45-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a running seconds display at 9 o’clock, and a date aperture positioned at 6 o’clock. The signature Snowflake hands, a hallmark of Tudor dive watches since 1969, have been refined to improve legibility against the vibrant background and the recessed chronograph registers.

The redesigned case measures 39mm in diameter, 13.1mm in height, and 47mm from lug to lug. Finished with a combination of satin-brushed and polished surfaces, it retains the characteristic bevelled lugs and screw-down crown bearing the Tudor shield logo. The fixed steel bezel features a black anodized aluminum insert with a tachymeter scale, reinforcing the model’s motorsport credentials. Water resistance is rated to 200 meters.

Powering the watch is Tudor’s manufacture Chronograph Caliber MT5813, an automatic movement equipped with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Developed from Breitling’s renowned B01 architecture and modified with a Tudor-designed regulating system and proprietary finishing, the movement offers a 70-hour power reserve and incorporates a non-magnetic silicon balance spring. Certified by COSC, Tudor states that the fully assembled watch is regulated to a stricter performance standard than the official chronometer requirements, targeting daily accuracy between -2 and +4 seconds.

The movement’s technical architecture reflects modern chronograph construction, combining smooth operation with long-term reliability. Visible only to watchmakers, the caliber features a tungsten monobloc rotor and alternating sandblasted and polished surfaces across the bridges and mainplate.

Another notable update is the newly designed three-link stainless-steel bracelet. Featuring smooth-sided links and alternating brushed and polished finishes, it is fitted with Tudor’s “T-fit” rapid-adjustment clasp. The tool-free system offers five adjustment positions across an 8-mm range, while ceramic ball bearings inside the clasp provide a secure and tactile closing action. Price: $6,725.
