Eberhard & Co. Launches the Contodat Collection Inspired by a 1970s Chronograph
The Contodat collection traces its roots to an automatic chronograph designed in the latter half of the 1970s by Palmiro Monti, then president of Eberhard & Co. During the quartz crisis that threatened the Swiss watch industry, Monti introduced a mechanical chronograph characterized by clean lines and bold contrasts, highlighted with distinctive orange accents. Nearly fifty years later, the new generation—consisting of a three-hand automatic and a chronograph with a tachymeter scale, both featuring integrated steel bracelets—revives that spirit of courage and dedication to mechanical watchmaking. Attention to detail is evident throughout, from the orange highlights to the trapezoidal date window.
Contodat Automatic
The Contodat Automatic is a compact stainless steel timepiece with a 39mm case that combines satin-finished and polished surfaces in a harmonious design. Its dial is available in five colors: blue (.01), green (.02), argenté (.03), gray (.04), and black (.05), each finished in either soleil or azuré. A small seconds subdial is positioned at 9 o’clock, with a trapezoidal date window opposite at 3 o’clock. Newly designed hour and minute hands feature a central luminescent segment for enhanced legibility. The watch is powered by the automatic Sellita SW290-1 caliber, which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 41-hour power reserve.
The integrated steel bracelet follows the lines of the case and is secured with a pin system with an integrated end link. The watch comes with the exclusive 2CLICK folding clasp adorned with the house’s hallmark. The case back is engraved with the motto “UBI TU IBI EGO,” which translates as “Where you are, there I will be.”
Pricing is marked at $3,780.00.

Eberhard & Co.The Contodat Chronograph also features a 39mm case and is water-resistant to 100 meters, like the Automatic. It is available in four dial variants: blue (.01), green (.02), and two argenté versions (.03 and .04), with the Sport variant (.04) featuring additional orange indices. All dials are protected by a domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating. The bicompax layout is complemented by the characteristic trapezoidal date window at 6 o’clock. The 3 o’clock minute counter features a 45-minute scale, paying homage to Palmiro Monti’s original design, while the tachymeter scale on the rehaut enhances the watch’s sporty functionality.
