Pioneering Swiss watchmaker Rado has deemed 2021 "a year of hope and reinvention," and chosen it for the launch of an unprecedented, revolutionary timepiece. The Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic is the culmination of many years of research and development that seamlessly fits within the history and tradition of the Captain Cook watch.

This latest watch from the popular, vintage-inspired Captain Cook collection, in Rado's hallmark high-tech ceramic, represents the brand's "Master of Materials" DNA in its purest form. It features stellar technical achievements such as Rado’s innovative, high-tech ceramic monobloc case construction, offering a high degree of scratch-resistance and hypoallergenic properties, and is powered by the premium Rado Caliber R734, whose Nivachron hairspring helps protect the timepiece from the everyday effects of magnetic fields.

For the first time, the Captain Cook Ceramic is presented in a case size of 43 mm, and in four versions. The first version has a black high-tech ceramic case and bracelet, with a turning bezel of hardened stainless steel with a black high-tech ceramic insert. A second model offers this same case and dial but comes mounted on a rubber strap for those who prefer a more casual look. A third variation uses black high-tech ceramic for both the case and bracelet but features contrasting rose-gold-colored, PVD-coated stainless steel for the bezel, which also has a black high-tech ceramic insert. Finally, the fourth model stands out with a distinctive plasma high-tech ceramic case and bracelet, a hardened stainless steel bezel, and a blue high-tech ceramic insert.

All four references, whose cases are water-resistant to 300 meters (30 bar), contain the Rado Caliber R734, which is notable for its lengthy 80-hour power reserve. Both the dial and the caseback are stunningly crafted in black-tinted sapphire crystal, allowing the watch's wearer to explore and admire the inner workings of the skeletonized movement in a subtle manner while also offering legibility. The triangle on the bezel, the indexes, and the now-familiar, wide arrow hands of the Captain Cook family are filled with white Super- LumiNova, providing clear visibility in the dark. The sapphire dial also plays host to the iconic Rado rotating anchor at 12 o’clock, and is protected by a chevé box sapphire crystal.

Beyond its intriguing looks, the Rado Captain Cook High Tech Ceramic is a mechanical masterpiece that needs to be felt to appreciate its lightness and wearer comfort.
