Into the Fire: H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Tourbillon Concept Ceramic

H. Moser & Cie. ventures into uncharted territory with the Streamliner Tourbillon Concept Ceramic, pairing the brand’s iconic Streamliner design language with one of modern watchmaking’s most demanding materials: high-performance anthracite ceramic.

The Streamliner Tourbillon Concept Ceramic represents a bold step for H. Moser & Cie., yet remains unmistakably true to the Schaffhausen manufacture’s identity. Its 40mm cushion-shaped case and fully integrated ceramic bracelet reinterpret the Streamliner’s organic lines with a total height of just 12.8mm. A screw-down crown and water resistance of up to 12 bar make the high-end complication watch perfectly suited for daily wear, while a sapphire case back reveals the intricate mechanical heart within.

More than an aesthetic choice, ceramic offers exceptional scratch resistance, hypoallergenic properties, and light weight. It also opens new possibilities for finishing: vertical satin-brushing on the bracelet, circular brushing on the case, and polished edges create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. This nuanced treatment adds depth to the model’s signature form and subtly emphasizes its fluid architecture.

The visual counterpoint to the dark case is an intense red Fumé dial. Crafted on a white-gold base, it is first textured to create a hammered effect before layers of finely ground enamel pigments are fused through repeated firings—a contemporary take on the traditional Grand Feu technique that delivers extraordinary color depth. In line with Moser’s minimalist philosophy, the dial omits indices and logos, leaving the time displayed solely via faceted hour and minute hands with Globolight inserts that contrast sharply against the glowing red background. At six o’clock, the flying minute tourbillon driven by the in-house automatic caliber HMC 805 takes center stage.

The manufacture movement beats at 21,600 vph and offers a minimum three-day power reserve. Its standout feature is a double hairspring, developed by Precision Engineering AG, which compensates for gravitational effects and improves isochronism and precision. Its 18k red-gold rotor contrasts warmly with  theanthracite-coated bridges and plates, all finished with the signature Moser double stripes.
