At Baselworld this year, the American brand Shinola brought out its first chronographs. The Detroit watch company is presenting a wide array of quartz chronographs as additions to its Runwell line. These watches extend Shinola’s collection past the three-hand options that it has made available thus far. The Runwell Chronographs use the Argonite 5021 and 5030 movements, Swiss quartz calibers by Ronda that are assembled in Shinola’s downtown Detroit factory. The 5021 chronographs have a traditional two-subdial layout with date window at 6 o’clock. The 5030 version places the date at 4 o’clock and has a third subdial for chronograph hours at 6 o’clock. The cases have pushers in the usual arrangement above and below the crown.

Runwell chronographs come in two sizes, with diameters of 41 mm and 47 mm. There are more than 10 color options for the dial. Steel bracelets and leather or rubber straps are available, as well as a NATO strap design that runs behind the case. Cases come in stainless steel and with various PVD treatments. The Runwell Chronograph will be available online and through Shinola’s stores in Detroit and New York City this year. They are priced from $750 to $975.
