King Seiko Vanac Returns in Seiko Blue for Seiko’s 145th Anniversary

Limited to 800 pieces, the new King Seiko Vanac combines the unmistakable angular design language of the 1970s series with Seiko’s latest high-grade automatic caliber.

Introduced in the early 1970s, the original Vanac line represented a more experimental side of Seiko design. Defined by faceted cases, vivid dial colors, and sharply geometric styling, the collection departed from the restrained aesthetics traditionally associated with King Seiko. The new Seiko 145th Anniversary King Seiko Vanac Limited Edition HKF004J1 revisits those design codes while incorporating contemporary movement technology, a striking color combination and finishing details.

The anniversary edition centers on "Seiko Blue," a color the brand associates with its modern identity and technical development. The watch features a silver-white dial combined with a recessed blue chapter ring and bold markers, both characteristic elements of the Vanac design language, and is covered by a box-shaped sapphire crystal. Luminescent blue ion-plated hands add contrast, the date indication at 3 o'clock everyday functionality. The marker at 12 o'clock and the end of the seconds hand recall a "V" shape.

Powering the watch is Seiko’s automatic Caliber 8L45, currently positioned as the brand’s highest-grade serially produced mechanical movement. Developed from the robust architecture used in Seiko’s professional dive watches, the movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. Seiko rates the caliber to an accuracy of +10/-5 seconds per day. As is typical for Seiko mechanical watches, the movement is also designed with resistance to magnetic interference in mind, supporting stable performance during everyday wear. Additional technical features include manual winding capability, hacking seconds, instant-change date, and Seiko’s bidirectional “Magic Lever” automatic winding system. The sapphire display back carries a blue King Seiko logo together with the limited-edition engraving and individual serial number.
