Favre Leuba Adds Two Variants to the Harpoon Revival

The two new Favre Leuba watches bring the distinctive design of the Harpoon Revival to life in fresh colors.

Some watch designs stand the test of time. Their proportions, details, and distinctive character remain recognizable decades after they first appeared, proving that a successful design does not necessarily need to be reinvented. Favre Leuba’s Harpoon Revival is one such example. Debuted in 1966 and re-introduced at this year's Watches and Wonders, the compact model returns now in two new versions with blue and black dials. Both retain the original dimensions and characteristic details of the historic predecessor, while a contemporary automatic movement takes care of the mechanics.

Faithful to the 1966 Design

The Harpoon Revival stays close to the proportions of its historical predecessor, with its 36.8mm stainless-steel case measuring only 10mm in height. Most notably, the understated dials, one in black and one in blue, preserves several characteristic elements from 1966. Bold horizontal markers appear at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock, while the vintage-style “Harpoon” signature is displayed at 6 o’clock. The minute markers are placed on the flange. A framed date window at 3 o’clock completes the balanced layout. Sunray finish enhances the two color ways. While the overall composition may appear minimalist, it reveals a careful attention to detail, evident, for example, in the finely faceted and rhodium-plated hour and minute hands filled with Superluminova.

La Joux-Perret Caliber

While the exterior looks back to 1966, the mechanics behind the closed case back are thoroughly contemporary. The Harpoon Revival is powered by the automatic FLD04 caliber, based on the La Joux-Perret G100. It operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and provides a comfortable power reserve of 68 hours.

The Harpoon Revival is paired with a black or brown leather strap, matching the black and blue dials, respectively. A stainless-steel pin buckle bearing the Favre Leuba signature secures the watch to the wrist. The strap features a quick-change mechanism that allows it to be swapped easily without tools, adding versatility to the vintage-inspired design. Pricing is marked at CHF 1,800 or approximately $2,172 when converted to USD.
