The fifth edition of WatchTime New York, America's luxury watch event, is finally upon us, kicking off tonight at Manhattan's Gotham Hall. Several of our record 37 sponsoring watch brands have already offered sneak peeks at all-new timepieces making their U.S. debut at the show, and today we present one more. Germany's Mühle-Glashütte, which marks its own 150th anniversary in 2019, has just announced a limited edition honoring 80 years of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Here's a quick look at the new AOPA AeroSport Limited Edition.

The watch, designed with the input of AOPA pilots, has a 42.5-mm stainless steel case with a screw-down crown, an anti-glare sapphire crystal, and a classical coin-edge rotating bezel. Emblazoned on the bezel is a triangular pip that can be used either as a fixed GMT indicator or to calculate the length of flight times. The jet black dial features contrasting white details including the hour markers, hands, and an AOPA logo above the 6 o'clock position. Red quarter-hour marks and a red tip on the minute hand adds a dash of color.

The AOPA Aerosport contains a self-winding Sellita SW-200-1 caliber with Mühle's own modifications, including the woodpecker-neck regulation device developed at its headquarters in Glashütte, Germany, and storing a power reserve of 38 hours. Most notable from a visual standpoint is the custom-designed AOPA 80th anniversary rotor, which is visible, along with the caliber's other high-end finishes, through a clear caseback. Limited to 500 pieces and priced at $1,899, the watch comes on a calf leather strap with a steel pin buckle. Join us on Saturday, October 26, to experience Mühle Glashütte and 36 other luxury watch brands, along with a host of panel discussions and even a bourbon tasting. Click here to order your tickets!
