Bulova Celebrates Nile Rodgers' 70th Birthday with Two Limited Editions

To honor the 70th birthday of Nile Rodgers, a three-time Grammy Award-winning artist, Bulova unveils two new limited-edition timepieces with all proceeds benefiting the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF).

The first model is a time-only piece dubbed ‘We Are Family’ and offered in stainless steel with black IP coating. Taking inspiration from Rodgers' musical DNA, the inner dial is distinguished by a black record-like circle decorated with the artist's signature. The outer ring of the dial is made from a wood grain that resembles the neck of a guitar.

Rose-colored hands tick above the musical-inspired dial design, adding a touch of color to the otherwise neutral-toned watch. On the reverse, the flat mineral caseback is inscribed with “Happy 70th Nile!“ as well as the We Are Family Foundation logo. The watch is offered on a black nylon strap.

For the second honorary timepiece, Bulova transforms its most popular Archive Series model, the Lunar Pilot Chronograph, offering a Limited Edition ‘We Are Family’ Lunar Pilot Chronograph. The watch is a nod to the space race era of the 1960s and 1970s, during which Rodgers grew up and still holds a strong fascination. The newest iteration is a commemorative reissue of the original chronograph worn on August 2, 1971 during the Apollo 15 mission.

Inspired by the original, the new watch is updated with Bulova’s exclusive high-performance quartz movement with a frequency of 262 kHz. It is housed in a sandblasted solid 316L surgical-grade steel case with a diameter of 45mm. The caseback is also inscribed with “Happy 70th Nile!“.

The Bulova 'We Are Family' retails for $295 and the Limited Edition ‘We Are Family’ Lunar Pilot Chronograph retails for $795. The latter is a limited release of 70 pieces. All sales proceeds will benefit the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF)
