In the wake of last year’s 60th anniversary of the Carrera, which TAG Heuer celebrated in grand style, the Swiss brand now presents the Carrera Chronograph with a teal green dial with the so called “Dato” style at this year’s LVMH Watch Week. This special layout, inspired by a Carrera from 1968, places the date window at 9 o’clock and the 30-minute counter opposite it at 3 o’clock, lending the signature Carrera look a surprisingly different impression.
The ergonomics of the case, which measures 39 mm in diameter and is water resistant to 100 meters, has been subtly reworked. The dial, with a gracefully curved flange that seems to blend into the case, features circular brushed finishing, while the sub-dial at 3 o’clock showcases grooves.
It is protected by a domed sapphire Glassbox crystal, a feat from the ’70s that TAG Heuer brought back last year. Engineered to have a curve that flows seamlessly over the flange, the structure runs along the edge of the dial, blending into the case.
The chronograph is powered by the automatic TH20-07 manufacture caliber with 80 hours of power reverse. The movement is revealed through the sapphire crystal case back.
Pricing for the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph “Dato” is $6,500.
