Smaller Size, Same Great Entrance: Patek Philippe Adds To Cubitus Collection

It was one of the most anticipated watch releases last year and one of the most discussed: Patek Philippe's square shaped Cubitus that brought a fresh perspective to the Genevan manufacture's luxury sports watch collection. Initially released in a 45mm wide and 8.5mm two-part case, the time-and-date iteration with sweep seconds is now enriched by a new size with a smaller diameter of 40mm and an even slimmer profile of 8.3mm. The Cubitus Ref. 7128 is available in white gold with a blue dial and in pink gold with a brown watch face.

The dial design remains the same, with a sunburst finish and embossed horizontal lines, baton-shaped hour markers and hands in white or pink gold, both coated with luminescence for best night-time readability. The date window is positioned at 3 o'clock, with black numbers on a white background.

At the heart of the watch ticks the same caliber that drives the inaugural version. The 26-330 S C self-winding movement offers a power reserve of 45 hours and is equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism, allowing for precise synchronization to within one second of a time signal. Peering through the transparent sapphire-crystal case back reveals the intricate architecture of the movement.

Patek Philippe aficionados will appreciate the meticulous finishing and decoration of its components, particularly the central rotor made of 21K gold, which features the same horizontal motif as the dial, which makes for a beautiful backdrop for the Calatrava cross.

The integrated bracelet in white respectively pink gold features vertical satin-brushes on the main links and a polished finish on the central links, with a polished bevel on the sides, reflecting the over all finish of the case. It features a lockable adjustment system and a patented Patek Philippe fold-over clasp secured by four independent catches. Both versions are priced at $76,590.
