Launched in select markets four years ago, the Porsche Design Custom Built Timepieces Program which allows for the individual configuration of the brand's watches, will be expanded, with it now including the brand's Globetimer model. First introduced in 2019 as part of the 1919 collection and dubbed the 1919 Globetimer UTC, this GMT watch features a user-friendly switching mechanism that allows to shift between time zones in 1-hour intervals by pressing a button, with the pointer date being automatically adjusted. The 42mm titanium watch is powered by Porsche Design's WERK 04.110 caliber, which was specially developed at the Porsche Watch manufactory in Solothurn, Switzerland. The self-winding caliber is COSC-certified.

The online custom-built configurator translates the principle of the Porsche car configurator into the luxury watch segment, enabling the design of a customized watch. No matter how individual the wishes of the customer are, or their Porsche 911 is – each timepiece can be adapted to the vehicle or the customer’s own ideas down to the smallest detail. From the watch case with the bezel, the colored ring on the dial, the strap, and the rotor to the personal engraving, there are countless possible combinations to choose from.

While the dial is always matte black – an imperative for Porsche Design – the choice of colorways for the ring around the dial not only includes all current exterior colors of the new 911 (generation 992.2), but also the iconic and historic colors of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s ‘Paint to Sample’ program. These are custom colors such as Gulf Blue and Ruby Star, which enjoy cult status among Porsche fans. In total, there are 142 different colors to choose from.

The strap can also be customized based on customer preference. Options include an ultra-lightweight and hypoallergenic titanium strap with a black or natural titanium finish, or a strap made from Porsche interior leather. Contrasting stitching with genuine Porsche vehicle thread in all the colors of the sports car's interior range completes the design options for the calfskin strap. A quick-release mechanism allows the strap to be changed in seconds without the use of tools.

The options for the chronograph have also been expanded. The winding rotor under the glass base of its case back is available in the shape of the Porsche Design icon in black or in the shape of an alloy wheel from the new Porsche 911. Eight new wheel rim options can be configured in the corresponding colors to match the vehicle range. All are finished in true Porsche style with the distinctive center lock or hubcaps with the Porsche emblem. A laser engraving of up to 12 characters on the arch of the case back completes the customization options. The customized Globetimer is only available with a closed case back. It can be personalized with an engraving.

In addition to the web-based Porsche Design timepieces configurator, found here, interested customers can design and order their individual timepiece at participating Porsche Centers. With the launch of the custom-built Globetimer, the watch configurator will now also be live and online in Canada.

The price depends on the individual configuration and starts at $6,250.
