Panerai Sets Sail with Submersible Quaranta Quattro Luna Rossa Ti-Ceramitech at Watches and Wonders 2024

As part of its partnership with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli America’s Cup team, Panerai is presenting the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa Ti-Ceramitech watches, PAM01466 and PAM01543, at this year’s Watches and Wonders.

As the name suggests, the case is made of a new material: Ti-Ceramitech. After seven years, the brand has succeeded in perfecting a titanium ceramization process using electrolytic plasma oxidation to achieve a blue hue. This process transforms the surface of the titanium alloy into a dense ceramic layer. According to Panerai, the resulting case is 44 percent lighter than steel and ten times more resistant to breakage than conventional ceramics. It can withstand high pressure and thermal stress.

Machined titanium was also ceramicized for the unidirectional rotating bezel. The 44mm diameter case, which is pressure-resistant to 50 bar, also features the signature crown protection bridge. The watch is driven by the proven automatic caliber P.900, with a power reserve of three days stored in one barrel.

The Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa Ti-Ceramitech is available with two dials: PAM01466 has a blue sunburst dial, while PAM01543 has a grained white dial. Both come with a textile rubber strap.

Pricing was not yet known at the time of publication.
