Hermès Delights with Arceau Petite Lune

With the Arceau Petite Lune, Hermès presents a delightful interpretation of the moon-phase complication. This poetic celestial feature is elegantly displayed on a captivating dial adorned with diamonds. Here, the Earth's satellite appears in a crescent-shaped aperture at 10:30, surrounded by a cluster of tiny stars. The Arceau, designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, is distinguished by a round case, with asymmetrical lugs in the shape of stirrups – an icon in the world of high-end watchmaking.

The stage for this heavenly display is set on a deep blue dial, featuring a gradient color scheme and subtle sparkling details. The center of the dial depicts a solar eclipse, with a crescent of 15 diamonds on its right side. The narrow bezel is also adorned with 99 diamonds, enhancing the dial’s radiant elegance. To allow this refined composition to shine, the watch foregoes numerals or additional markers. Only two open-worked hands for the hours and minutes gracefully sweep across the dial, indicating the time.

Inside the 38mm stainless steel case beats the H1837, an automatic movement crafted in Hermès’ own watchmaking workshops. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the caliber offers a 42-hour power reserve. The intricate decorations, including perlage, satin-finished bridges, and the signature Hermès oscillating weight, reflect the Maison’s exceptional craftsmanship.

The abyss blue alligator leather strap, entirely made in Hermès’ ateliers, further exemplifies the Maison’s commitment to fine craftsmanship and artistry in watchmaking.

Pricing is marked at 15,700 euros or approximately $16,700 when converted to USD.
