As the most famous and prestigious rally of its kind, also affectively called "la corsa più bella del mondo,”  it not only showcases timeless cars but also inspires watchmakers— most notably Chopard— to craft mechanical watches that capture its spirit.

Since 1988, the Swiss brand has served as World Sponsor and Official Timekeeper of the Mille Miglia and created a new watch every year to commemorate the race, which leads from Brescia to Rome and back. Furthermore, Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele has himself competed in every edition since 1989, making this year his 38th consecutive start.

In 2025, Chopard proudly marks the 70th anniversary of Sir Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson’s legendary 1955 Mille Miglia victory with a special edition of its Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph. The driver duo achieved an undefeated record time of 10 hours, 7 minutes and 48 seconds at an average speed of 97.96mph.

Limited to just 70 pieces, the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Tribute to Sir Stirling Moss features a 40.5mm x 12.8mm case crafted from the brand's Lucent Steel alloy with the characteristic mushroom-style pushers and welded lugs, a detail that echoes the architecture of vintage racing cars.

A distinctive glass box sapphire crystal offers a clear view onto the retro-style opaline dial that recalls the matte silver color finish of Stirling Moss’s winning Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, an icon of the ‘Silver Arrows’ era. The tricompax chronograph layout showcases the small seconds at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock. The baton hands and hour numerals are coated with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova ensure legibility in all conditions. A tachymeter scale for measuring distances and a date indication, nestled between 4 and 5 o'clock, are also aboard.

Turning the watch over reveals not only the beautifully finished, COSC-certified chronograph movements with 54 hours of power reserve in the tank, but also a remarkable exhibition case back. Its center showcases the series’ limited edition of 70 pieces, flanked by the Mille Miglia motif around the perimeter, along with the date of the race and the Moss-Jenkinson duo’s record-breaking time. As for the sapphire crystal it is also engraved with a chequered flag intertwined with the Union Jack, a subtle tribute to its namesake’s British legacy.

Exclusively available at Chopard boutiques, the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Tribute to Sir Stirling Moss is priced at $10,800. It is delivered with a racing-style leather strap with punched holes and a rugged texture.
