Carl F. Bucherer Releases the Manero Flyback Chronograph in 5 New Colorways

After many years of trending towards larger diameters, often beyond 42 millimeters, more and more releases in the high-end sector are now heading towards smaller, more classical proportions. Carl F. Bucherer’s Manero Flyback Chronograph, first introduced in 2016 with a diameter of 43mm, serves as the latest example: The Swiss watch company just announced the release of a new generation of this automatic chronograph with a more compact diameter of 40mm.

Like their larger predecessors, the new chronographs are characterized by a classic elegance, however, they have a distinctive flair of color that sets them apart: The blue (Ref. 00.10927.08.13.03), green (Ref. 00.10927.08.13.02), red (Ref. 00.10927.08.13.04), silver (Ref. 00.10927.08.13.01), and dark gray (Ref. 00.10927.08.33.01) options for the two subdials and the matching sustainable textile straps draw inspiration from various landscapes. Among them are the green rolling fields of the Emmental, the deep red of the Bernese Oberland mountain range before dusk, the changing shades of blue of Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee), the dramatic black rock surface of the Grimsel region, and the eternal whiteness of the Aletsch glacier

The launch is therefore accompanied by a photo campaign created in collaboration with Hannes Becker. The German photographer’s pictures are inspired by the natural colors that are unveiled every day in the hearty Swiss landscape. When asked about the photography opportunity, Becker explained, “when Carl F. Bucherer invited me to photograph Switzerland’s beauty in colors that would complement the new Manero Flyback, I was thrilled by the opportunity. ‘Swissness’ is an essential part of the brand’s identity, and with that in mind, it was an interesting challenge to take inspiration directly from Swiss nature.”

With the new generation of the Manero Flyback Chronograph, Carl F. Bucherer aims to attract both a younger clientele as well as aficionados.

“The 43-mm Manero Flyback was a tremendous success. Listening to our global clientele – men and women – we decided to launch a complementary 40-mm version. It’s a perfect way to engage with a younger, cooler audience with a conscious mindset who love minimalism with a great design. The collection resonates with what our young audience expects from a contemporary timepiece and an equally modern watchmaker.”

Each of the five new chronographs in the Manero Flyback collection is powered by a CFB 1973 caliber, an automatic mechanical movement that delivers 56 hours of power reserve (based on Sellita AMT5100). Along with central hour, minute, and chronograph seconds hands, the dial features a date aperture at 6 o’clock and a tachymeter scale on the flange. The new Manero Flyback Chronographs retail for $7,100.
