Coming up in just a couple weeks is WatchTime New York 2022, the three-day event showcasing many of the most sought-after watch releases of the past year. The event will occur from October 21-23, with more than 30 participating watch brands joining at Midtown Manhattan’s Gotham Hall. Among them is Massena LAB, the horological creative studio founded in 2018, with the brand presenting one of its latest timepieces, the Habring² x Massena LAB Chrono Felix Perpetual, LAB-CFP. Here’s a glance at what to expect from the new watch.

Developed in partnership between Massena LAB and Habring², the LAB-CFP marks the two brand's fourth collaborative piece, with this edition being the first to use the Chrono Felix Perpetuel by Habring² as its base design. Notably featuring a chronograph and perpetual calendar, the uncommon collaborative watch is arguably the brand's most ambitious joint effort yet.

The LAB-CFP features an original, Massena LAB-designed case in steel. It is a stepped case that reflects vintage-inspired design ethos while also disguising three correctors that operate the date, day of the week, and moon phase. Measuring 38.5mm, the case is presented on a black, nubuck alligator strap made by Jean Rousseau Paris exclusively for the LAB-CFP.

The monochromatic, black and steel dial of the LAB-CFP takes conceptual inspiration from film negatives, while also referencing the iconic layout of the Patek Philippe ref. 1518. Creating an inverse of the ref. 1518, the LAB-CFP turns to a black dial, bright numerals, and even reverses the tones of the moon phase. As a monopusher chronograph perpetual calendar, there is a sub-dial for the day of the week at 3 o’clock, a month and leap year indicator at 6 o’clock, a day of the month sub-dial at 9 o'clock, and the moon phase is displayed at 12 o’clock.

Inside the watch is the all-new, in-house A11CP caliber from Habring². The brand is the only manufacture aside from Patek Philippe to produce timepieces that combine a monopusher chronograph with a perpetual calendar. The manual-winding mechanism offers a 48-hour power reserve and operates at 28,800 vph.
