Jaeger-LeCoultre Honors the Reverso with the 5th Capsule Collection within The Collectibles

Jaeger-LeCoultre continues its exploration of watchmaking heritage with the fifth chapter of The Collectibles, presented in New York City. This latest Capsule Collection shines a spotlight on the golden age of the Reverso, bringing together eight rare vintage models produced between 1931 and 1937.

With this fifth Capsule Collection, Jaeger-LeCoultre adds a new chapter to The Collectibles: a carefully curated ensemble of exceptional Reverso timepieces from the formative years of the model. Created between 1931 and 1937, these watches embody the spirit of Art Deco and reflect the maison’s design and technical ingenuity during that pivotal decade. The choice of the Madison Avenue boutique as the venue is deliberate— few cities capture the era’s aesthetic as vividly as New York. The exhibition runs through February 23 at 701 Madison Avenue, New York City. It is open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM until 06:00 PM. All pieces also available to view online via The Collectibles platform.

Launched three years ago to mark Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 190th anniversary, The Collectibles  is the manufacture’s dedicated Certified Pre-Owned program. It encompasses 17 emblematic models spanning the 1920s to the early 1970s, from the Duoplan and Reverso to the Geophysic, Futurematic, and Memovox Polaris. Each watch is restored in the brand’s own atelier in the Vallée de Joux— one of the few of its kind worldwide— where ten master watchmakers meticulously overhaul every piece. Missing components are recreated by hand using historical references or sourced from the extensive archives. Each timepiece is delivered with an archive extract, a complimentary copy of The Collectibles reference book, and a new hand-crafted leather strap appropriate to the model (except watches originally fitted with metal bracelets).

Eight Historic Reversos

The Capsule Collection comprises three men’s and five women’s Reverso models, each illustrating a distinct chapter in the model’s early history. Among the highlights is a 1931 men’s Reverso with a black dial—back then celebrated at the time as the “dial of the future”—featuring a railway minute track and trapezoidal hour markers that continue to inspire today’s Reverso Tribute. A rare two-tone Reverso from 1936, crafted in stainless steel and 9-carat yellow gold, houses Caliber 410, the first Manufacture movement developed specifically for the Reverso and equipped with small seconds. Completing the men’s selection is a 1937 Reverso with Caliber 413 and a black dial bearing the Jaeger-LeCoultre name for the first time, marking the historic union of the two houses.

The women’s pieces underscore the creative versatility of the early Reverso. The Reverso 1931 Dame in 18-carat yellow and white gold combines a white-gold central case with yellow-gold lugs, while its dial replaces the traditional minute track with four right angles in the corners—a motif echoed today in the Reverso One collection. Another Reverso 1931 Dame features a double signature and blued hands, their hue achieved through a traditional heat-treatment process, and a dial indicating a strictly limited delivery to select retailers. Particularly distinctive is a Reverso 1931 fitted with a cord bracelet, its slim, rope-like chromed band attached to pronounced lugs. The selection concludes with two further Reverso 1931 Dame variants, each framed by four right angles on the dial and paired with either black or brown calfskin straps.

This 1931 Reverso Cordonnet features a polished steel case framing a white dial distinguished by Art Deco corners and Arabic numerals indexes. Equipped with the manual-winding caliber Tavannes 051, the watch is fitted on a very rare chromium cordonnet strap. Price: $35,000.
