Independent Swiss watchmaker Speake-Marin expands its One & Two Openworked collection with the launch of the Openworked Tourbillon Purple Hour, a limited-edition timepiece that fuses architectural mechanics with vibrant color. Defined by its avant-garde design and a striking violet baseplate, the new model brings a fresh energy to the collection while underscoring the brand’s reputation for an uncompromising approach to haute horlogerie.

At its heart, the watch showcases a flying tourbillon positioned between 1 and 2 o’clock, commanding attention alongside the barrel, visible beneath a finely angled bridge. A micro-rotor and openworked power-reserve indicator complete the dynamic layout on the dial, with each detail reinforcing the emphasis on transparency and mechanical expression. The violet base plate, shifting in tone depending on the light, evokes the mystical hues of the “purple hour” at dusk.

The Openworked Tourbillon Purple Hour is housed in Speake-Marin’s signature Piccadilly case, crafted from Grade 5 titanium, a material prized for its resilience and lightness. The case design—distinguished by its bold lugs, slim bezel, and onion-shaped crown—is available in both 38-mm and 42-mm diameters, each measuring 12.35mm in height. A violet calfskin strap with denim-style embossing and titanium buckle completes the expressive look.

Driving the watch is the in-house automatic caliber SMA05, equipped with a tungsten micro-rotor, beating at 3 Hz and offering a power reserve of 72 hours. Through the sapphire case back, the movement reveals meticulous hand-finished details, including black-rhodium bridges decorated with Geneva stripes, and a central PVD-coated bridge framing the gear train in striking contrast.

The Openworked Tourbillon Purple Hour is offered in a limited edition, priced at CHF69,400 (approximately $87,200) for the 38-mm version and CHF 69,900 (approximately $87,800) for the 42-mm model, excluding taxes.
