A. Lange & Söhne Expands the Saxonia Thin with Two Striking Special Editions

A. Lange & Söhne launches two new special editions of the Saxonia Thin, a classic renowned for its pared-down design and uncompromising craftsmanship. The newcomers are presented in the brand's genuine Honeygold gold alloy and platinum. Both are paired with a deep black onyx dial.

A. Lange & Söhne's Saxonia Thin has always stood as an expression of pure elegance within the Saxon manufacture’s collection. Its dial, with just two slender hands and applied baton hour markers, is a study in restraint, offering nothing beyond the essential display of hours and minutes. Yet behind the impression of simplicity lies a design process rooted in meticulous attention to proportion, balance, and finishing. From the length and form of the hands to the polished facets of the markers and the lightness of the three-part case, every element contributes to a sense of harmony.

The choice of onyx for the dial lends the new editions a highly distinctive character. Rarely seen in the realms of haute horlogerie, the gemstone provides a deep, glossy black backdrop that enhances both elegance and legibility. In the Honeygold version, the dark dial complements the warm tone of the proprietary gold alloy, while in the platinum edition, the cool metal creates a sharper contrast against the hands and markers.

The cases measure 40mm in diameter and just 6.2mm in height, making the watches exceptionally slender. The narrow, gently curved lugs ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist, while the alligator leather strap in black completes the refined dress-watch appearance.

Beneath this beautiful dial lies the hand-wound caliber L093.1, developed and produced entirely in-house. At only 2.9mm in height, it provides a maximum power reserve of 72 hours, made possible by a compact barrel design. True to the storied tradition of Lange's fine watchmaking, the movement is finished to the highest standards. The three-quarter plate in German silver features Glashütte ribbing, while thermally blued screws, a hand-engraved balance cock, and gold chatons secured by blued screws contribute both technical function and visual refinement. very gear, wheel, and screw is positioned with mechanical accuracy and with an eye toward highest aesthetic balance. Pricing is available upon request.
