Montblanc Presents 1858 The Unveiled Minerva Monopusher Chronograph at Watches and Wonders 2024

It has become something of a tradition at Montblanc to present a historically inspired Minerva monopusher chronograph as part of the new introductions at Watches and Wonders, focusing on the beauty of its inner workings. This year, the Swiss brand is going one step further: the new 1858 The Unveiled Minerva Monopusher Chronograph, limited to 100 pieces. The new model not only features a sapphire crystal cover glass and sapphire crystal case back, but also five additional sapphire crystal windows that allow a side view of the finely decorated hand-wound caliber from the Montblanc's Minerva workshops.

The MB M17.26 caliber was specifically designed to offer the best possible aesthetic experience through the new openings. The pillar construction of the movement ensures that the view of the wheels, chronograph lever, and escapement is largely unobstructed, even from the side. Like its predecessor, the MB M16.26, this single-pusher movement has been reversed, so that the mechanical operations for starting, stopping and resetting the chronograph are visible on the dial side, as is the typical Minerva chronograph bridge, whose V-shaped design was patented in 1912. With their blue hue, the nickel-silver bridges provide a stunning contrast. The newcomer is housed in a 43mm horizontal satin-brushed stainless steel case; the fluted white gold bezel is reminiscent of Minerva's first fluted bezel of 1927.
