Light-Weight, Yet Robust: Ulysse Nardin Introduces Diver Air at Watches and Wonders 2025
Ulysse Nardin once again showcases its mastery in cutting-edge material research and traditional watchmaking with the launch of the Diver Air. Water-resistant to 200 meters, this skeletonized dive watch weighs a mere 52 grams.
Known for its groundbreaking technologies, particularly in silicon, and bold designs such as the legendary Freak, Ulysse Nardin continues to push the boundaries of modern horology. With a rich history dating back to 1846, the Swiss manufacturer skillfully combines tradition with innovative solutions. The Diver Air, debuting at Watches and Wonders 2025, is a perfect example of this.
According to Ulysse Nardin, the Diver Air is the lightest mechanical dive watch in the world. Thanks to the use of innovative and environmentally friendly materials—such as recycled carbon fiber, recycled titanium, and Nylo-Foil derived from repurposed fishing nets—the watch weighs just 46 grams, or 52 grams with its fabric strap. Despite its light weight, the 44mm case offers maximum performance, with a pressure resistance of up to 20 bar.
A key element that contributes to its airy, lightweight look and feel is the newly developed, intricately skeletonized Caliber UN-374, designed in the shape of an X. The principle behind its design was to remove everything possible without compromising the mechanical strength. This goal has been achieved. The automatic movement, which consists of 199 components, with bridges and plates made from recycled titanium, withstood shocks of up to 5,000G in rigorous testing.
Moreover, the Caliber UN-374 impresses with a 90-hour power reserve, thanks to its innovative flying barrel, a large balance wheel that oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and components such as the hairspring, escapement wheel, and anchor made from anti-magnetic silicon. The Diver Air comes with two interchangeable straps: one orange and one white, both made from elastic fabric with a Velcro closure.
Pricing is marked at $38,000 $ (w/o VAT).
