This fall, Glashütte Original introduces its latest SeaQ Chronograph— a dive watch ready for action and adventure with a new black-and-white charm. Joining the brand’s renowned Spezialist collection, the new model takes its inspiration from classic cinema, making use of a monochromatic colorway to channel vintage film. Like those classic works of art, the SeaQ Chronograph proves that sometimes less is more— leaving a lasting impression with its refined contrast and minimalist palette. It is an ideal companion for those who want to make a bold statement without the need for color.

On the wrist, the SeaQ Chronograph is robust and ready for action, measuring 43.2 mm in diameter in stainless steel. The polished and satin-brushed finish provides a sleek and durable exterior, while the unidirectional rotating bezel, set with a scratch-resistant black ceramic inlay, adds an additional layer of resilience. Designed to meet the rigorous ISO 6425 and DIN 8306 standards for diving watches, this model is built to withstand extreme underwater conditions with a water resistance of up to 300 meters. Its sporty yet elegant look is complemented by a sapphire crystal case back that reveals the intricately finished movement within.

Minimalist in style, the SeaQ Chronograph’s dial is a study in contrasts. Like the thin coat of silver paint used in vintage cinemas for which the “silver screen” draws its name, the SeaQ makes use of a galvanic silver backdrop, enabling a greater contrast than traditional white dials by reducing the dispersion of light. Black hands and applied indices coated with Super-LumiNova add to the dial’s legibility across lighting conditions. The 30-minute chronograph counter and small seconds sub-dials feature a lathe-cut, vinyl pattern finish that adds texture and depth to the design. The black and white theme extends to the Panorama Date at 6 o’clock, where white numerals are set against a black background, creating a seamless and elegant display.

Powering the SeaQ Chronograph is the in-house Calibre 37-23 automatic movement, capable of a 70-hour power reserve. This finely finished movement features a silicon balance spring to ensure optimal performance in the face of magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, while the flyback chronograph function allows for precise short-time measurements. The calibre is beautifully decorated by hand with Glashütte stripes, beveled edges, and polished screws— being easily appreciated through a sapphire exhibition caseback.
