Traditional Meets Futuristic in the Louis Erard x Vianney Halter Le Régulateur II Limited Edition
Louis Erard, a Swiss brand renowned for its bold collaborations and distinctive regulator dials, has once again teamed up with French independent watchmaker Vianney Halter for a second iteration of the Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Vianney Halter. This new release, available in two limited editions, is an impressive testament to the unique design language that Halter has become famous for, drawing inspiration from his iconic Antiqua perpetual calendar. Making use of "Steampunk" elements and hues of metal, bold shapes, and rivets, this daring interpretation of the grand complication displays all the indications in separate sub dials, a design that was both groundbreaking and audacious when it was first introduced in 1998.
The Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Vianney Halter II is a daring piece that fuses these aesthetics with a bold almost raw industrial style. The regulator dial remains at the heart of the design, with the minute hand taking center stage, emphasizing its traditional role as a mother clock in observatories in the days of yore. The hour and seconds are displayed on off-centered sub dials at unusual positions at 11 and 4 o'clock, an avant-garde layout that creates an almost sculptural impression. One version, reserved for exclusive retail distribution, pairs rhodium-plated rings with a red-gilt 5N-plated base. The second, available exclusively via the brand’s e-boutique, reverses the color scheme and features a rhodium-plated base with red-gilt chapter and counter rings.
All of the raised sub dials, along with the outer chapter ring with a railroad-style minute track, are circularly brushed and feature pronounced diamond-polished chamfering. These raised elements sit on top of the vertically-brushed dial plate. The blued hands, a nod to traditional styles and a Vianney Halter signature, also brings to mind the DNA of the Antiqua. The bezel is likewise circularly brushed and has twelve "red-gilt" rivets that echo the style of those on the crown which is placed at 2 o'clock.
The stainless steel case has a diameter of 43mm and measures 10.95mm thick. It boasts a water-resistance of 50 meters and is equipped with a sapphire case back to show off the self-winding Sellita SW266-1 which ticks at the heart of the watch.
Both versions are worn on a leather strap and limited to 178 pieces.
