Few names in watchmaking evoke the sea quite like Ulysse Nardin. Known for its longstanding legacy of marine chronometry, the Swiss brand continues to fuse tradition with innovation in its high-end Diver collection, whose dial design is inspired by the historic marine chronometers. In modern times, the tradition brand based in Le Locle has been also highly committed to ocean preservation, incorporating recycled materials like fishing nets into its timepieces and championing sustainable innovation through designs such as the Diver Net and Diver The Ocean Race. Through partnerships with organizations like Ocearch and Shark Trust, Ulysse Nardin actively supports marine research and raises global awareness about protecting the seas.

The latest testament to this ethos is the Diver Hammerhead Shark. One percent of its annual sales will benefit the 1% for the Planet initiative, a UK based non-profit organization which is a partner of Shark Trust. Water-resistant to 300 meters, the Diver Hammerhead Shark features a 44mm x 14.81mm titanium case finished with a deep blue PVD treatment. It is equipped with a unidirectional diver's bezel with a rubberized insert for excellent grip even with wet or gloved hands. Red crown guards and engraved case back detailing— highlighting its namesake predator—amplify both function and flair.

The blue dial has a sandblast finish that makes for a cool backdrop for the collection's signature X motif, here highlighted in red, and the bold hour markers and hands. Both are coated with Superluminova for excellent readability in low-light conditions. In tune with historic marine chronometer designs, the power reserve indicator is positioned at 12 o'clock and the subsidiary seconds, here integrating a date window, at 6 o'clock.

The watch is powered by the flagship UN-118 manufacture movement, a self-winding caliber with an escapement made of DiamonSil and balance spring in silicon, Ulysse Nardin’s advanced antimagnetic, lubrication-free silicon technology. It has a 60-hour power reserve.

Limited to 300 pieces, the Diver Hammerhead Shark is fitted with a blue rubber strap and a blue fabric Velcro strap. Securing the strap is a PVD titanium tang buckle, built as tough as the watch itself.

The Diver Hammerhead Shark is priced at $12,100 without taxes.
