Watch enthusiasts, mark your calendars for the most awaited horological event of the year – WatchTime New York 2023! Set against the backdrop of Manhattan's iconic Gotham Hall, this multi-day watch collectors' extravaganza, taking place from October 20th to 22nd, promises brand presentations, enlightening industry panel discussions, and immersive hands-on experiences that every watch connoisseur dreams of. Tickets are on sale now via WatchTime's event site, here, offering you a front-row seat to the world of fine timepieces.

Among the over thirty participating brands at this year’s show is WatchTime’s longtime partner Oris, a watchmaker well known for its commitment to meaningful collaborations, particularly those related to ocean conservation. This year, the esteemed maison will be showcasing one of its latest in the new Oris X Bracenet watches. The new timepieces— which includes two different sizes of the same diver– have been produced in collaboration with Bracenet, a novel social enterprise which makes accessories from upcycled ‘ghost’ fishing nets, and which produced the dials for the duo.

As mentioned, the new Oris X Bracenet launch includes two different sizes, with one featuring a more substantial 43.5mm diameter, and the other a more compact 36.5mm wear, with each geared towards comfortable wear on a variety of wrist sizes. Each features a meticulously crafted multi-piece stainless steel case that makes use of Oris’ modern diver Aquis silhouette. Robust construction is at the forefront of the design, with a uni-directional dive bezel, integrated triple-link bracelet, and a prominent pair of guards and crown adding to its bold styling, while a 300m dive rating ensures its in-action use.

Familiar case shape aside, what sets the Oris X Bracenet apart is its mesmerizing dial. Crafted by Bracenet, the display is crafted from upcycled 'ghost' fishing nets and end-of-life materials, this process ensuring no two are the same. To create these kaleidoscopic dials, small offcuts in shades of green, blue, and white are carefully warmed until they melt into a raw material, remarkably with no additives, fillers, or glues. As they cool and harden, they form an exceptionally thin sheet, just 0.3mm thick, which are then shaped and decorated with Oris’ details to result in the final showcase. With its swirling colors and individuality, every dial narrates the transformation of waste into beauty, while applied details, prints, and a small 6 o’clock date window ensure daily functionality.

Beneath the captivating dial lies the Oris 733 movement, an automatic mechanism based upon the Sellita caliber SW 200-1. With a power reserve of 38 hours and frequency of 28,000 vph, the caliber ensures precision and reliability without any nonsense. The movement is visible with a red-accented rotor via a sapphire exhibition caseback.
