Introducing the Czapek Promenade Goutte de Rosée
Morning dew in grand feu enamel
Few artisanal dials in recent years have been as captivating as the Promenade Goutte d’Eau unveiled by Czapek in 2024. Its deep sapphire-blue dial created the illusion of ripples spreading across the surface from the small seconds display positioned at 4:30. Now, the independent Geneva-based manufacture revisits this poetic concept with the Promenade Goutte de Rosée, a new limited edition of 25 watches housed in a warm 18-karat yellow-gold case. Inspired by morning dew resting on delicate spring leaves, the newcomer pairs yellow gold with a vibrant green Grand Feu enamel dial, giving the design an entirely new character while preserving its serene elegance.
Promenade Goutte de Rosée
CzapekA Dial Inspired by Morning Dew
The centerpiece of the Promenade Goutte de Rosée is its remarkable flinqué Grand Feu enamel dial, created in collaboration with renowned dial specialist Donzé Cadrans. The process begins with a blank made from 925 sterling silver. Using a custom-designed stamping tool developed by Czapek, artisans imprint the dial’s distinctive wave pattern into the metal, creating the relief structure that defines the model.
Making-of
CzapekDonzé Cadrans’ craftspeople then apply approximately five layers of translucent green Grand Feu enamel by hand. After each application, the dial is fired at high temperatures in a kiln. The resulting sense of depth does not come from color gradients but from subtle variations in enamel thickness. In the recessed areas, the enamel can reach up to 0.5mm in thickness, while the raised sections remain significantly thinner. These minute differences create changing shades of green and a striking illusion of movement as the light shifts across the dial.
Firing process
CzapekEach dial undergoes approximately eight firing cycles before being meticulously hand-polished to achieve its perfectly smooth surface. Up to five hours of dedicated craftsmanship are invested in every individual dial.

CzapekThe Challenge of Green Enamel
Transitioning from the blue enamel of the original Goutte d’Eau to the rich green hue of the Goutte de Rosée introduced significant technical challenges. Green enamel reacts more unpredictably with a silver base than many other colors and can lead to adhesion issues or surface imperfections. Donzé Cadrans reportedly tested around ten different enamel formulations before finding one that offered both visual appeal and long-term stability.
The highly sculpted relief pattern further complicated production. Both the deepest recesses and the highest points of the dial must be covered evenly with enamel. Even the smallest imperfections in the early layers can become visible after firing. As a result, only a handful of specialists at Donzé Cadrans possess the expertise required to execute this demanding technique consistently.
The complexity is reflected in the rejection rate. While traditional Grand Feu enamel dials typically see around 25 to 30 percent of components discarded during production, the rate for the Goutte de Rosée approached 50 percent. To obtain 25 flawless dials, production began with roughly 60 silver blanks.

CzapekNo Two Dials Are Alike
The intricate manufacturing process ensures that every watch is unique. Variations in enamel thickness subtly influence color saturation and the visibility of the wave pattern beneath. Some dials display a richer, deeper green, while others reveal more of the underlying texture through the translucent enamel. Against this lush backdrop, skeletonized hour and minute hands, along with the small seconds hand from which the ripples appear to radiate, stand out elegantly. They are framed by a slim 38mm yellow-gold case whose understated proportions allow the dial to remain the star of the show.
Manufacture Caliber SXH5.1
Turning the watch over reveals another artisanal masterpiece. Visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback is Czapek’s automatic manufacture caliber SXH5.1. Its micro-rotor, crafted from recycled 950 platinum, not only winds the movement efficiently but also allows an unobstructed view deep into the caliber’s architecture. Seven openworked bridges, inspired by the historic pocket watches of François Czapek, create a striking sense of depth and transparency. The movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), offers a 60-hour power reserve, and features a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time setting.
The elegant color palette of the Promenade Goutte de Rosée is completed by a matching leather strap. The watch is limited to 25 pieces and priced at CHF 32,000 before taxes, approximately $39,772 when converted to USD.
