Right on time for the Sturgeon Moon on August 9, Swatch takes off once again, this time with the MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold. This new model makes use of a complication that first debuted in 2024: the earth phase indication. Designed as a reverse moon phase, the earth phase tracks how the Earth appears from the Moon. The retrograde display follows the same 29.5-day synodic cycle but rotates counterclockwise, reversing the conventional direction of moon phase indicators. The indication is set beneath an illustration of Snoopy and Woodstock sitting on the lunar surface, gazing at Earth. As a reference to the Moonwatch's spacefaring heritage, the illustration includes a hidden message visible only under ultraviolet light.

SwatchAt the 2 o’clock position, a traditional moon phase display adds another layer of complexity. The indicator features twin full moons, both rendered in Omega’s proprietary Moonshine Gold. One moon carries a stylized Snoopy motif; the other is textured with a net-like pattern, a visual nod to the etymology of the Sturgeon Moon.

SwatchIt goes without saying that the MoonSwatch Mission to Earthpase – Moonshine Gold is crafted from Swatch’s patented Bioceramic material, a combination of two-thirds ceramic and one-third bio-sourced plastic derived from castor oil. The 42mm case mirrors the silhouette of the original Speedmaster Moonwatch. A new navy blue hue, created specifically for this edition, dominates the case and dial and is paired with a matching Velcro strap designed for comfort and wearability.

SwatchAs with the previous editions, the case back, behind which a quartz movement is at work, is engraved with the watch’s mission title, and the battery cover is embossed with a depiction of Earth as seen from space.
