In a Nod to Its 1960s Legacy, Hanhart Unveils the 415 ES

Hanhart once again proves its chronograph prowess by blending history with the latest achievements of modern day watchmaking. The new 415 ES, which brings back two historic features first introduced by the brand in the 1960s: a bidirectional rotating bezel with a 60-minute scale and a sporty wing logo. This emblem, famously seen on vintage Hanhart's stopwatches, makes its long-awaited return to the dial of a Hanhart wristwatch for the first time in over four decades. A similar version of the “H” logo is also found on the crown, adding to the model’s vintage charm.

The updated 415 ES sports a striking black dial with yellow Arabic hour numerals and markers and relatively small totalizers at 3 o’clock (for the 30-minute counter) and 9 o’clock (for the small seconds). Surrounding the hour markers is a white tachymeter scale and a red hundredths scale. To facilitate the management and calculation of working and production times, time is often measured in industrial minutes. In this system, the duration of a period of time is indicated in the decimal system. One minute is thus divided into 100 units. This function is essential in industrial and technical applications. The insert of the 60-click bezel is made of black ceramic, enhancing both the aesthetic and functionality.

The hands of the 415 ES were carefully selected to reflect its historical roots. While the original 415 ES was available with either Dauphine or classic hands, Hanhart has opted for the latter for a more contemporary look. These hands, along with the hour markers, are coated with Superluminova X1 for enhanced legibility in low light conditions. The dial is protected by a high-domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

At 39mm in diameter and 13.5mm in height, the case is made of polished and satin-finished stainless steel, offering a refined balance between elegance and durability. The mushroom-style pushers and a prominent, knurled crown contribute to the watch's vintage personality. The closed, screw-down case back is engraved with the winged logo, the phrase “Made in Germany,” and the watch’s unique serial number.

Inside, the 415 ES is powered by the reliable Sellita SW510 M manually-wound movement, which offers a 58-hour power reserve and is regulated in-house to an accuracy of 0 to +8 seconds per day. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters, making it a versatile option for daily wear and sport activities.

To complete the look, the 415 ES is paired with a calf leather strap available in black, dark brown, or light brown, each lined with Alcantara on the underside for added comfort. Pricing is marked at €2,390 or approximately $2,514 when converted to USD.
