MeisterSinger Marks 25 Years with the Edition Unitas 1Z

To celebrate a quarter-century of watchmaking, Meistersinger unveils the Edition Unitas 1Z, a strictly limited collector’s piece distinguished by its enamel dial and a beautifully decorated Unitas pocket watch movement. The release pays tribute to the original Edition 1Z from 2004.

For 25 years, the Münster-based German brand has stood for a more relaxed perception of time— expressed through its exclusively mechanical, single-hand watches. Limited to just 25 pieces, the new Edition Unitas 1Z revisits Meistersinger’s first enamel-dial model, which in 2004 marked the beginning of an annual series of special editions. That original Edition 1Z, produced in 222 examples, also stood out for its finely finished Unitas movement, traditionally used in pocket watches and enhanced with Geneva stripes, blued screws, and a swan-neck regulator. The new edition builds on this legacy, while, for the first time, introducing a case designed specifically for the concept. Measuring 40mm in diameter with a slim bezel, it provides ample space for both the dial and the movement to shine.

The white enamel dial is crafted in a complex, multi-day process. Finely ground enamel powder is applied in several layers to a copper base and fired at around 800°C. Even slight deviations in temperature or timing can compromise the result, causing cracks, warping, or breakage. Yet the effort is rewarded: enamel retains its flawless beauty for decades, making each dial a lasting work of art.

The dial design draws clear inspiration from classic pocket watches. Flowing numerals in MeisterSinger’s characteristic 365 style, fine hour markers, and additional dots for five-minute intervals define its appearance. An inner printed scale adds a functional layer, indicating the minutes within each hour. A heat-blued hand with an extra-long overhang completes the historically inspired look.

Powering the watch is the historic ETA/Unitas 6497 hand-wound movement. For this edition, it has been elaborately finished with Geneva stripes and equipped with a swan-neck regulator. Its elevated frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour enhances rate stability, while offering a power reserve of approximately 46 hours. The generously sized sapphire crystal case back reveals the movement’s intricate architecture in full view.

The 40mm stainless steel case of the Edition Unitas 1Z is water-resistant to 5 bar and paired with a light blue leather strap embossed with a crocodile pattern. Price is marked at €6,990 or approximately $8.181 when converted to USD.
