Craftsmanship at Its Finest: Armin Strom Introduces the Tribute² Aurum

Armin Strom once again places demanding craftsmanship and mechanical transparency at the center of its creative vision. The most striking feature of this high-end manufacture watch is the use of the rare tremblage technique, a traditional form of hand engraving that only a handful of brands still master today.

Traditional craftsmanship and sophisticated finishing are as intrinsic to Armin Strom as the escapement is to the balance. It is a statement the independent Swiss brand underscores emphatically with its first novelty of the 2026 watchmaking year. Like the earlier Tribute 1 models, the Tribute² Aurum is conceived as a homage to the art of finishing. Here, tremblage, a historic and highly demanding decorative technique executed entirely by hand, takes center stage. Using a specially made burin, the engraver creates a finely textured surface that breaks the light into lively, constantly shifting reflections.

In the case of the Tribute² Aurum, the entire mainplate is decorated using this technique. A gilded coating— “Aurum” being the Latin word for gold— further amplifies the visual depth and lends the surface a warm, luxurious glow. In keeping with the collection’s aesthetic language, additional meticulously finished movement components add visual emphasis on the dial side, foremost among them the skeletonized barrel. Its bearing is held by the brand’s characteristic finger bridge, a signature Armin Strom design element. This twin-armed bridge is painstakingly beveled and black-polished in the manufacture, underscoring the brand’s uncompromising approach to finishing.

To give this carefully orchestrated mechanical composition sufficient space to unfold, the time display of hours, minutes, and seconds is placed on an off-center sub dial. Rendered in dark gray with a subtle gradient, it creates an elegant contrast to the richly textured, golden-toned background and reinforces the sense of depth and transparency that defines the watch.

Powering the Tribute² Aurum is the hand-wound manufacture caliber AMW21, which is assembled twice in accordance with Armin Strom tradition. Operating at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour, it delivers an impressive power reserve of 100 hours. Traditional high-end finishing is also evident on the reverse side of the movement, visible through the sapphire caseback. Highlights include the three-quarter bridge with its hand-polished 60-degree angle, Geneva stripes, and circular graining, all executed to the highest standards of haute horlogerie.

The movement is housed in a steel case measuring 38mm in diameter and 9.38mm in height, with alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces. The watch is worn on a taupe-colored Epsom leather strap secured by a stainless-steel pin buckle.
