Chronoswiss Brings Back the Digiteur

Two limited editions of 99 pieces each celebrate digital-mechanical at its best.

In a year that has already seen Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Czapek and Bremont reinterpret the jump hour, Chronoswiss now joins the ranks with the new Neo Digiteur, a revival of the Digiteur. Introduced in 2005 by the brand's founder Gerd-Rüdiger Lang, this rectangle watch showcases the time through mechanically driven digital indications, foregoing completely with hands. This way of telling the time goes back to the 1920s and ’30s, when mechanical watches without hands — montres sans aiguilles — first appeared. They displayed the hours and minutes through jumping numerals and rotating discs, heralding a futuristic, “digital” form of watchmaking long before the advent of electronics and quartz movements. The Neo Digiteur's rotating discs for jump hours, digital minutes, and sweeping seconds still look mesmerizing and cool today.

The 48mm rectangular case remains, but every detail has been reimagined. What was once softly contoured now stands crisp and architectural. Crafted from stainless steel, the Neo Digiteur captures light through a sophisticated interplay of textures — sandblasted flanks, satin-brushed planes, and gleaming polished edges. The result is a case that feels sculptural, deliberate, and unmistakably modern. Even the crown has evolved: once rounded and ornate, it now sits lower and cleaner, designed with pure functionality in mind. The fonts of the indications have also been updated to a cleaner style.

Inside this refined structure beats the hand-wound Caliber C.85758, with an in-house developed module for the complications. Operating at 3 Hz and offering a 48-hour power reserve, the movement is a testament to the Lucerne workshop’s devotion to mechanical artistry. The beautiful hand-finished ruthenium and gold-plated bridges are adorned with guilloche and stripes. .

Chronoswiss offers two distinct editions, each limited to 99 pieces. The Granit model features a vertically brushed anthracite dial accented with cool blue numerals. The Sand version, meanwhile, radiates warmth with a sandblasted dial in 4N-gold tone paired with deep navy numerals, balancing understatement with a hint of extravagance.
