Just in time for the summer travel season, the German watchmaker Laco is introducing the Frankfurt 40 GMT, a more compact version of its award-winning pilot's watch designed for travelers. Previously available only in a 43mm case, the Frankfurt GMT has become one of the Pforzheim-based brand's signature models, combining the functionality of a GMT watch with the clean legibility of a traditional pilot's watch. The new 40mm version preserves all of the original's features while offering a more versatile size for a wider range of wrists. Its dual-time display allows wearers to keep track of both local time and home time simultaneously—a practical feature for frequent travelers and business professionals.

At the heart of the Frankfurt 40 GMT is the automatic Laco 330 caliber, based on the Sellita SW330-2, with a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement displays hours, minutes, seconds, a date at 6 o'clock, and the second time zone via a dedicated 24-hour GMT hand. Together with the bidirectional rotating inner bezel, which is adjusted via a second screw-down crown, the watch enables the wearer to monitor two time zones with ease. This distinctive inner-bezel system with night-and-day hours has become one of the defining characteristics of the Frankfurt GMT collection.

The new model remains faithful to the collection's functional aesthetic. Its 40mm steel case features Laco's signature dark sandblasted finish inspired by historic cockpit instruments and military pilot's watches. The matte surface minimizes reflections, while the double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides ensures excellent readability of the luminescent dial. The watch is water-resistant to 200 meters (20 ATM) and protected against magnetic fields, making it well suited for everyday wear as well as demanding environments.

Available with either a black or gray matte dial, the Frankfurt 40 GMT prioritizes legibility. Large Arabic numerals, thermally blued hands, and orange accents provide clear orientation at a glance. Superluminova C3 is applied to the numerals, indexes, and hands, while the tip of the GMT hand is highlighted in orange luminous material. Signature details, including the seconds hand with a stylized airplane motif and the engraved airplane relief on the solid caseback, remain integral elements of the design.
