Tudor Celebrates Summer with the Black Bay 54 “Lagoon Blue”

Tudor kicks off summer with a new iteration of its popular Black Bay 54, this time in a striking "Lagoon Blue" configuration that blends mid-century naval heritage with contemporary design and manufacturing precision. Water-resistant to 200 meters, the release further solidifies the Black Bay 54’s position as the most faithful homage yet to Tudor’s original dive watch: the 1954 Oyster Prince Submariner (ref. 7922).

Measuring 37mm in diameter, the Black Bay 54 “Lagoon Blue” adheres closely to the compact proportions that defined early dive watches. This latest model preserves the aesthetic language of its forebear, notably incorporating a “small" and unprotected crown and forgoing the red triangle at 12 o'clock — a subtle nod to the cleaner, more understated dials of the earliest 7922 variants evaluated by both the French and U.S. Navy.

The dial of the new Black Bay 54 “Lagoon Blue” features a beautiful sand-textured finish rendered in a vivid light-blue tone. This grained surface contrasts with the fully polished unidirectional bezel, resulting in a visual interplay of matte and gloss that underscores the watch’s dual nature as both a tool and a refined accessory. The hands have also been adjusted for period accuracy, now exhibiting a pinched base identical to those found on the original 1954 model.

While the design references are rooted in history, the Black Bay 54 “Lagoon Blue” is thoroughly modern beneath the surface. It is powered by the in-house Manufacture Caliber MT5400, which offers a robust 70-hour power reserve—sufficient to keep time over an entire weekend without winding. The movement is COSC-certified and operates within a precision tolerance of -2 to +4 seconds per day. Its silicon hairspring and variable inertia balance wheel, secured by a two-point anchored traversing bridge, ensure both durability and resistance to magnetic fields.

The MT5400 movement also receives Tudor’s signature aesthetic finishing. The tungsten monobloc rotor is openworked and satin-brushed with sandblasted detailing, while the bridges and mainplate feature a combination of sandblasted and polished surfaces with laser-etched accents.

The watch is equipped with a fully satin-brushed 5-link stainless steel bracelet with Tudor’s proprietary "T-fit" clasp. This micro-adjustment system allows wearers to easily modify the bracelet length in five steps across an eight mm range—without tools. Ceramic ball bearings inside the clasp offer a secure yet smooth closure mechanism.

Pricing is marked at $4,350.
