Favre Leuba: Deep Raider Day Date — A Dive Watch with a Golden Edge

The latest Deep Raider Day Date marks another chapter in Favre Leuba’s ongoing journey to bring one of its historic dive watch concepts into the present. After introducing the model in stainless steel earlier this year, the brand now adds a two-tone edition that changes its character without compromising its capabilities. Yellow gold PVD accents on the bezel, crown and bracelet give the 40mm timepiece a more elevated appearance, while the blue, green and black dials retain the strict, purposeful design language expected from a professional instrument. The result is a watch that moves comfortably between sporty and elegant — a combination that feels less like a styling exercise and more like a natural extension of the Deep Raider collection. 

The new Deep Raider Day Date remains faithful to the proportions of the stainless steel version. Water-resistant to 300 meters, its 40mm case measures 12.5mm in height and combines brushed and polished surfaces. The two-tone edition introduces yellow gold PVD treatment to the crown and bezel, adding warmth and visual contrast to the otherwise technical architecture. The gold treatment continues across the central links of the integrated three-link bracelet. The combination works particularly well because it is applied selectively. The yellow gold accents do not overwhelm the design; instead, they highlight the key elements of the watch and draw attention to its strong, geometric design. 

The dial is arguably the most compelling part of the new Deep Raider Day Date. Available in black, blue or green, it combines the clarity of a professional instrument with a level of visual depth that gives the watch a more elegant personality. The blue and green versions feature subtle gradients that become progressively darker toward the outer edge. The effect adds dimension without distracting from the strict, highly structured layout. The black version takes a more restrained approach, emphasizing the watch’s functional character and strong contrast.

The display is protected by a double-domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal and constructed in two layers. The lower one is coated with Superluminova C1 X1, while the upper layer features elongated cutouts that create the recessed hour markers. This sandwich construction gives the dial a sense of depth during the day and provides bright, even illumination in darker conditions. The long, narrow indexes reinforce the disciplined appearance of the display. Their design is direct and purposeful, yet the proportions remain elegant. Gold-treated hands add warmth to the otherwise cool, instrument-like design, while the Favre Leuba hourglass emblem at 6 o’clock provides a subtle focal point. At 3 o’clock, the day and date display adds practical functionality without disturbing the overall balance. The result is a dial that is strict but not austere — technical in its layout, yet refined in its execution.

The Deep Raider Day Date is easy to imagine as an everyday watch. At 40mm, its dimensions are versatile, while the combination of steel and gold-toned elements allow it to work with casual clothing as well as more formal attire. The 300-meter water resistance, ceramic dive bezel and robust construction place it firmly in professional dive-watch territory. 

Powering the Deep Raider Day Date is the automatic FLD05 caliber, based on the Sellita SW220-1. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4 Hz, the movement offers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. It is well protected behind the closed case back, which is decorated with a wave pattern — a reminder of the collection’s maritime heritage.

The Deep Raider Day Date is equipped with and Integrated three-link brushed and polished steel bracelet with yellow gold PVD-treated central links and a butterfly clasp. It is also available with color-coordinated rubber straps. Pricing is marked at $2,700.
