A Whale of a Watch: Citizen Drops Three New Styles of the Promaster Dive

The Citizen Promaster Dive, first launched in 2006, is inspired by the majestic Orca whale. Right in time for aquatic summer adventures, the brand adds three new executions to the collection, a blue or black dial or an all-black special edition.

Each of the new models are presented in a 46mm stainless steel case whose gentle curves mimic those of the orca’s body, and feature a redesigned, unidirectional stainless steel and aluminum bezel. Its outer coin edge provides ample grip for gloved hands. A luminous dot at 12 o’clock ensures easy registering of elapsed time while underwater, while a screw-down crown and case back provide 200 meters of water resistance. In addition, this ISO-compliant dive watch also features anti-magnetic resistance.

As it is crucial for a diver's watch, the dial— which evokes the shapes and color scheme of the orca— sports luminous hands and markers filled with a superior lume for best legibility under water and in the dark.

Powering the Promaster Dive is the Caliber E168 Eco-Drive movement from Citizen, a light-powered caliber that provides a 180-day power reserve on a full charge and boasts an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. A solid, stainless steel case back with a printed orca whale motif protects the movement, while a redesigned, black rubber PU strap mimics the design of the orca’s dorsal fin.

The new Citizen dive watches are already available for purchase. The All Black version has a price tag of $575, with the other two execution retailing for $475.
