Rado Expands Captain Cook Collection with Blue High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph
Metallic sheen, no metal
Rado unveils a new colorway of its Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph, adding a rich blue variant to the collection launched in 2025. Featuring a deep-blue dial, matching ceramic bezel insert, and warm rose-gold-colored accents, the newcomer underscores the brand’s expertise in advanced materials while reinforcing the sporty-elegant character of the Captain Cook line.

RadoThe defining feature of the new model is its intense blue color scheme. Both the dial and polished ceramic bezel insert are rendered in a dark shade that shifts dramatically with changing light conditions, appearing almost black at times while revealing vibrant depth under brighter illumination. The blue elements are paired with a case and bracelet crafted from plasma high-tech ceramic, a material known for its metallic sheen despite containing no metal. The contrast between the cool-toned ceramic and the rose-gold-colored details on the bezel, crown, pushers, hands, and indexes gives the watch a distinctive and sophisticated presence. Measuring 43mm in diameter and 16.2mm in height, the chronograph features a monobloc case construction that is water-resistant to 300 meters and a box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides that protects the dial.

RadoTrue to the Captain Cook heritage, the watch combines robust functionality with vintage-inspired design cues. Large, highly legible hour and minute hands are complemented by applied indexes and a luminous triangle marker on the bezel, all coated with white Superluminova for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions. Red-tipped chronograph hands, the central seconds hand, and the small-seconds display at 6 o’clock provide additional contrast and readability. The red date display further emphasizes the retro character of the collection, which traces its origins back to the original Captain Cook introduced in 1962.

RadoPowering the watch is the automatic Caliber R801, based on the ETA A31.211 architecture. The movement delivers a power reserve of 59 hours and is equipped with a Nivachron hairspring, offering enhanced resistance to magnetic fields and everyday shocks.
Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement features decorative finishing and a signature anchor-shaped rotor, a hallmark of modern Rado calibers. The watch is fitted with a polished plasma high-tech ceramic bracelet secured by a titanium triple-folding clasp. Pricing is marked at $6,750.
