Hamilton revisits one of its most distinctive mechanical chronographs with three new versions of the American Classic Chronograph H, each shaped by the energy, color, and precision of vintage racing culture. Drawing direct inspiration from the late 1960s and early 1970s, a defining era in which instrument-style dials, strong contrasts, and purpose-driven details influenced watchmaking, the latest models are equipped with a state-of-the art hand-wound movement delivering a generous power reserve of 60 hours. Their dials with contrasting silver counters are imbued with retro flair.

Water-resistant to 100 meters, the new American Classic Chronograph H models are housed in a 40mm stainless-steel case with a height of 14.35mm, proportions that underscore the watch’s robust yet wearable character. Two of the new versions feature dials in hunter green (ref. H38429861) and warm brown (H38429591), each enhanced by a smoky gradient that fades from darker edges toward a lighter center, visually emphasizing the curved profile of the case.

A third reference adopts a more overtly sporty character, combining a blue dial with contrasting orange hands for maximum legibility and visual impact. Across all three models, the hour and minute hands are treated with Super-LumiNova, while the chronograph hands are finished with contrasting lacquer to ensure clear readability under dynamic conditions. Fittingly, there's also a tachymeter scale for measuring distances aboard. It is applied along the outer perimeter of the dial. All dials are protected by a box-shaped sapphire crystal that highlights the vintage style.

Powering the American Classic Chronograph H is Hamilton’s hand-wound H-51 mechanical chronograph movement, based on the 7753 architecture. It beats with 28,800 vph behind a closed case back and delivers a substantial 60-hour power reserve. A Nivachron balance spring improves resistance to magnetic fields, temperature fluctuations, and shocks.

Motorsport-inspired details extend well beyond the dial. Each model is fitted with a color-coordinated perforated nubuck leather strap that enhances breathability and grip while echoing the materials once found in classic racing interiors. In addition, Hamilton includes an interchangeable mesh bracelet with every watch, offering a refined mid-century modern alternative. Pricing is marked at $2,445.
