While color in all its shades was the order of the day at this year's Watches and Wonders, there were also some sophisticated newcomers with black dials. Among them is Chopard's L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25, an excellent jumping-hour complication that combines an ethical 18-carat white gold case with a pure black Grand Feu enamel dial created by an in-house artist.

Based on the first L.U.C Quattro Spirit, launched in 2021 on the occasion of Chopard's 25th anniversary, the hours appear through an aperture positioned at 6 o'clock so that the minute hand does not obscure the view of the instantaneous hour change. The frame of the aperture in white gold accentuates the sobriety of the large white Arabic numerals on a black background.

The case, with the understated elegance typical of the L.U.C collection, is 40 mm wide and only 10.3 mm thick. At the heart of the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 is a mechanical workhorse that, thanks to Chopard's Quattro technology, offers an astonishing eight-day power reserve. This power reserve can be tracked by means of an indicator engraved on the hand-wound L.U.C 98.06-L, which is visible through the transparent case back.

The watch also features a swan-neck regulator and sumptuous decorations such as Côtes de Genève on the bridges and gilded engravings, which give the timepiece the prestigious and rare Poinçon de Genève hallmark.
