Some watches are designed to blend in. The Mido Multifort TV Big Date was never one of them. Since its revival, the model has stood out with its unmistakable TV-shaped case — a hallmark of 1970s design that gives the watch a personality all its own.

Now, Mido introduces a sophisticated new interpretation, pairing the signature silhouette with a warm pink-gold-colored PVD finish and a captivating blue-to-black gradient dial. The result is a watch that balances sporty character with vintage elegance, demonstrating how well yesterday’s design can be adapted for today’s enthusiasts.

A Cushion-Shaped Classic

Measuring 40mm by 39.2mm and 11.5mm thick, the case faithfully preserves the collection’s distinctive “TV screen” profile. While the softly squared silhouette recalls Mido’s original designs from the early 1970s, alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces give the watch a contemporary level of refinement.

The pink-gold-colored PVD coating softens the otherwise sporty architecture, while the integrated bracelet continues the flowing lines seamlessly from the case to the wrist.

A Dial That Steals the Show

The horizontally brushed dial transitions from deep midnight blue at its center to black around the outer edge, creating an attractive fumé effect that adds visual depth. Applied hour markers are recessed into the dial, further enhancing its three-dimensional appearance.

The faceted hands and indexes are coated with white Super-LumiNova for excellent legibility in low-light conditions. At 12 o’clock, Mido’s signature large-date display remains the focal point, giving the watch its name while reinforcing its bold, contemporary character.

Powering the Multifort TV Big Date is Mido’s automatic Caliber 80, based on the ETA C07.651. Equipped with a Nivachron balance spring, the movement offers enhanced resistance to magnetic fields, shocks, and temperature fluctuations while delivering a power reserve of up to 80 hours. Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement features Geneva stripes on the rotor and refined decorative finishing.
