Alpina has recently introduced the Startimer Pilot Heritage Chronograph, a bi-compax monopusher chronograph that draws inspiration from the brand’s rich history. This is the first time that a monopusher chronograph has been added to the aviation-inspired Startimer collection, and it uses a movement designed by the specialists at La Joux-Perret.

The cushion-cased chronograph evokes the racing chronographs of the 1970s. The Startimer Heritage Pilot uses a 42-mm wide stainless steel case that has a mix of brushed and polished surfaces. The flanks have a polished finish while the top has a brushed (satin-finished) surface. The case is fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and is water-resistant up to 100 meters thanks, in part, to a screwed-in crown. The single chronograph pusher is located at 2 o’clock.

The watch is available in two dial configurations. The first one has a silver-gray sunburst dial with applied luminous indexes and the chronograph counters in black. The counter at 3 o’clock measures up to 30 minutes; the one at 9 is the running seconds hand. A black central chronograph seconds hand sweeps across the dial when the pusher is engaged. The second version has a sunburst blue dial with silver chronograph counters for a reverse panda look.

The watch is powered by Caliber AL-727, designed by La Joux-Perret. It oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a 55-hour power reserve. The watch is paired with a leather strap and is priced at $2,795. A version of this story first appeared on WatchTime Middle East
