Since its release in 2021, the G-STEEL Black X Gold series has gained renown for its refined sporty aesthetic, pairing a namesake black and gold colorway with the ultra-tough and functional G-STEEL design to create uncommon models with a robust G-SHOCK silhouette. The latest update to the series takes this effort to the next level. Known as the GST-B100 Series GSTB100GB1A9, the new watch expands the fresh-faced gold-hue greater in the design and once more raises the bar for the appealing sports watch series.

Like previous G-STEEL models since the initial debut of the GSTB100 design, the new GSTB100GB1A9 is a hardy timepiece featuring a layered guard structure and chronograph-forward functionality in an eye-catching analog format. Its case features dimensions of 58.1 × 53.8 × 14.1 mm, with its warm metal hues deriving from a gold-ion plating. In standard G-SHOCK fashion, the watch features shock resistance, as well as water resistance to 200 meters, ensuring capable everyday wear no matter the circumstance or challenge.

The model’s array of functions, operable via its gold-colored pushers on its black case sides, include a 1-second stopwatch, countdown timer, dual time/world time displays, daily alarm, a full auto calendar accurate to 2099, and day and date indicators. When the watch is not in use, a power-saving mode activates, stopping the watch’s hands from moving and in effect saving power while maintaining timekeeping in the background — ready to restart once the timepiece is again put into service.

Bluetooth connectivity enables the G-STEEL’s wearer to change the watch’s time zone, swap home time and world time, check its battery level, set a timer or alarm on the watch directly through the G-SHOCK Connected app, and continuously maintain highly accurate timekeeping. The connectivity further allows the watch to engage in a useful phone-finder function that will set off a smartphone alarm so that you can find it if lost and within range.

Like all watches within the G-STEEL collection, the new GSTB100GB1A9 is equipped with Tough Solar technology, which offers solar energy charging capabilities. The watch’s energy level is visible on a novel, turbine-inspired sub-dial disk at 9 o’clock, which like much of the dial’s other details is colored in a lovely gold. Finally, in an effort to maximize usability in all conditions, a Super LED light can be activated to illuminate the dial for optimal visibility in the dark.

The G-STEEL GSTB100GB1A9 is priced at $420. The series is also available in other combinations gold and black model (GSTB400GB1A9) and a full dark, steel bracelet-equipped edition (GSTB500BD1A9), with these retailing for $390 and $380, respectively. All three designs are be available for purchase at select retailers, gshock.com, and the G-SHOCK Soho store.
