TAG Heuer expanded the scope of its Carrera Three Hands family, a subsidiary of its flagship Carrera collection, with more than a dozen new references. The Swiss sports-watch specialist completes the streamlined Three Hands series — which, like all Carrera versions, traces its lineage to the first iconic Carrera chronograph from 1963 — with an extra-special piece celebrating the 2022 Chinese New Year. Here is what you should know about the TAG Heuer Carrera Year of the Tiger Limited Edition.

The Chinese Year of the Tiger begins on February 1, 2022, and the watch pays a visual tribute to it with its elegantly textured, stripe-patterned dial that combines two distinct shades of blue: one lighter and water-toned, the other darker and echoing the look of a tiger's fur. The former stripes are made of horizontally brushed metal with a blue PVD treatment, the latter of painted, textured metal. The hands, applied hour indices, and frame of the day/date display are plated in 18k rose gold, as is the TAG Heuer shield logo below 12 o'clock. A white-printed minute scale appears on the solid blue flange.

The 41-mm case is in polished stainless steel, with a polished crown in rose gold to echo the gleam of the dial details. Its caseback, fitted with a sapphire window adorned with an illustration of a blue tiger ready to pounce, offers a view of the self-winding movement, TAG Heuer's Caliber 5, with a 28,800-vph frequency, a rapid date-correction function, and a power reserve of 38 hours. On the periphery of the caseback is an engraving denoting the watch's limited-edition number, out of 300 pieces made.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Year of the Tiger Limited Edition comes on a blue calfskin leather strap with gold-toned double stitching and is delivered in a blue lacquered box that bears the same tiger-stripe motif as the dial. It is priced at $3,750 and available now.
