Grand Seiko introduces the SLGH017 “Night Birch”, a new timepiece following up on the success of the "White Birch" ref. SLGH005 that was awarded the Men’s Watch Prize at the 2021 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. As the name of the new debut suggests, the latest iteration features a black dial with a subtle texture that recalls the pattern of bark of a birch. It creates a refined background for the bold applied markers with finely polished bevels on the sides and the date indication at 3 o'clock.

Notably, the "Night Birch" additionally features the high-frequency Caliber 9SA5 that was released a couple of years ago. This modern automatic movement delivers an impressive power reserve of 80 hours and a precision rate of +5 to -3 seconds per day.

In contrast to its predecessor, the reference SLGH017 has its entrance in the brand's genuine lightweight High-Intensity Titanium. The case, water resistant to 100 meters, has a contemporary diameter of 40mm and a thickness of 11.7mm. The watch is distinguished by Grand Seiko's latest design update called "Evolution 9," which includes a complex faceted case, large hands, and prominent markers; Zaratsu-polished, distortion-free finish; and highly ergonomic proportions.

The SGHL017 is attached to a 3-link bracelet made from High-Intensity Titanium and will be available from August for a retail price of $10,400 on a non-limited basis.
