Laco Launches Limited Edition Augsburg and Aachen Polar Models

Southern German watch manufacturer Laco, based in the “gold city” of Pforzheim, is launching two proverbially cool versions of its classic pilot’s watches positioned in the entry segment. Limited to 250 pieces each, the Augsburg Polar and Aachen Polar models feature a dial with shimmering metallic indexes against a polar-white background.

Depending on the incidence of light, the color shades of the indexes range from deep blue to azure. This scenery makes for an expressive backdrop for the bold hands and numerals, which are coated with Superluminova C3 Blue Line, a luminous material that has a green sheen during the day. The Augsburg Polar adopts the design of the historic “Baumuster A” and ensures clear legibility with eleven Arabic numerals, a pilot’s triangle at position 12, and central seconds.

The Aachen Polar, on the other hand, displays the familiar “Baumuster B” design of historical observation watches, which puts the hour circle on the inside and the minute track on the outside. A brown calfskin strap with decorative rivets completes the classic pilot’s watch look.

Both timepieces take to the skies in a 42mm stainless steel case that houses the brand’s 2S automatic movement, based on Miyota 82S0. Laco also offers the option of upgrading, with the Laco 31 caliber (based on Miyota 8315), which features thermally blued screws and an extend power reserve of 60 hours.

Pricing for the Augsburg Polar and Aachen Polar is marked at approximately $470 when converted to USD.
