At this year's Forum, Nomos Glashütte introduced the Tangente 2date, an offspring of its famous Tangente, which has been a staple since the brand introduced their first timepieces in the early 1990s. A quintessential example of Bauhaus- and German Werkbund inspired design, it is known for its minimalist aesthetic, clean lines, and geometric purity. Its round case, thin bezel, and angular lugs create a balanced, understated look that is both modern and classic.

Today, the collection comprises of fully 61 variations, available in three different case sizes, with self-winding and hand-wound manufacture calibers, additional functions such as a date or a power reserve indication, and a plethora of different dial colors and styles that cater to every taste.

The latest addition to the family, the Tangente 2date, comes as quite a surprise – on one hand it introduces a brand new manufacture caliber, on the other it offers two date indications. There is the already established ring date introduced in the Tangente Update in 2018, a cleverly designed concept with a date ring placed around the outer edge of the dial, and there is the quite large date window at 6 o'clock beneath the subsidiary seconds that has been a staple of the Tangente from day one. This double indication might be understood as a strong "Carpe Diem" message. In addition, the ring date also gives its wearer kind of an orientation, how far along the month is.

Not many surprises in terms of the case: The Tangente 2date comes in a characteristic slender one (6.8mm height) with angular lugs made from stainless steel. Water-resistant to 50 meters, it has a unisex diameter of 37.5mm and is available with a white silver-plated or galvanized blue dial.

While both the case and dial showcase the straightforward design that has made the Tangente to a modern classic, the new DUW 4601 hand-wound movement showcases the beautiful rich decorations and finishes inspired by the traditions of the famous watchmaking town. The three-quarter plate and date ring plate of feature fine sunbeam ribbing, radiating from the Nomos Swing system and setting it off beautifully. Until now, this polish was reserved for the brand's exclusive movements of gold models. Thanks to its skeletonized design, the balance cock allows for an unobstructed view onto the proprietary escapement with its blue balance spring.

From a technical standpoint, the DUW 4601 offers a rapid-date adjustment for both displays and a 52-hour power reserve. The movement measures only 2.8mm in height, an important prerequisite for slender and elegant cases.
