In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche Design has introduced the new Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition. Paying tribute to the legendary sports car that made its debut at the 1974 Paris Motor Show, the new “911 among watches” presents classic sports car charm for the wrist. With only 500 pieces available, the chronograph captures the spirit and design principles of the original 911 Turbo, embodying Porsche’s commitment to precision and performance all while looking plenty chic getting it done.

The new Chronograph 1’s case measures 40.8mm in diameter, being constructed from an ultra-lightweight titanium that was specially chosen for its strength and comfort on the wrist. Finished with a black titanium carbide coating, the case is resistant to scratches and offers an elevated, matte appearance. An exhibition caseback showcases the movement within, while the iconic "Turbo" logo and the years "1974–2024" are printed on the outer edge of the caseback to commemorate the special edition.

Drawing inspiration from the original 911 Turbo’s cockpit, the matte black dial of the Chronograph 1 ensures optimal readability— much the same as the vintage car’s instrument panel. White hands and indices, along with a bold red stop-second hand, offer striking contrast, while the "Flyback" inscription above the 6 o’clock position features the font of the historic 911 dashboard. The vertically configured chronograph dial is completed with the 1970s Porsche Design logo, connecting the timepiece to its heritage.

The new chronograph is powered by the COSC-certified Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.240. The automatic mechanism is capable of a 48-hour power reserve and beats at 28,800 vph, with functions for a flyback chronograph, day, and date display. The flyback function notably allows for seamless timing operations, merging start, stop, and reset in a single action.

The movement is driven by a winding rotor in the design of the legendary Fuchsfelge— also known as the first forged wheels used for Porsche. The original rims from the 1970s were made from a single piece of aluminum, ensuring more dynamic reactions from the chassis and allowing for better handling of the car. The rotor thus recalls the characteristic cloverleaf-shaped design, which itself goes back to F. A. Porsche, while the embossed Porsche Crest adorns the matte black chrome-plated Fuchs rotor— once more emphasizing the watch’s direct link to the 911 Turbo.
