The 1815 watch family from A. Lange & Söhne is a true tribute to the brand's heritage, seamlessly blending tradition with modern innovation. Named after the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange, who founded German precision watchmaking in the impoverished town of Glashütte exactly 180 years ago, this collection embodies the core values of the brand and its founder: discreet elegance, precision, and a relentless pursuit of perfection. Incorporating elements that were found in the luxury manufacture's historic pocket watches–such as the railroad-minute track, the perfectly sized Arabic numerals, the lancet-shaped hands and the prominent subsidiary seconds dial positioned at 6 o’clock–the collection–it is a mirror of Glashütte's golden age of fine watchmaking.

The new 1815 unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2025 follows this tradition; it comes with a blue dial in a 750 pink- or white-gold version whose case proportions exhibit graceful unpretentiousness. Its diameter of 34 mm and a height of only 6.4 mm comply with the wish of many watch aficionados for an even more discreet version of this classic three-hand watch, which is also available with a diameter of 38.5 mm.

As is typical for A. Lange & Söhne, the new 1815 models are equipped with a newly developed, especially tailored movement. The 75th genuine caliber of the brand, the hand-wound caliber L152.1, features a new oscillation system with a freely oscillating balance spring and a large screw balance crafted in-house that assure supreme precision across the entire power reserve that was increased to 72 hours.

“Despite the discreet case diameter, our watchmakers additionally succeeded in increasing the power reserve to 72 hours and incorporating a new going train.”

The aesthetics of the L152.1 are typified by characteristic design forms and traditional movement decorations that can be admired through the sapphire-crystal case back. They include, in particular, the hand-engraved balance cock and the three-quarter plate which was introduced in 1864 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte. The prominent movement part made from German silver is decorated with Glashütte ribbing. The four screwed gold chatons, the bearing jewels and the securing thermally blued screws set colorful accents in this stunning mechanical microcosm that has been assembled twice like all Lange calibers.
